NJ TRANSIT INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ TRANSIT), in accordance with Section 5 of P.L. 1984 c.578 of the Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Program (SCDRTAP), is conducting at least one public hearing in each geographic region to gather information and receive comments from interested parties as to the efficacy of programs developed pursuant to the Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Act. See N.J.S.A. 27:25-29. Each hearing will be available both in-person and virtually. The in-person hearings will take place in the southern (Blackwood), central (Iselin), and northern (Newark) regions of New Jersey.
SCDRTAP funds support capital, operating, and administrative costs for local transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities. The program also funds accessibility improvements to NJ TRANSIT’s fixed route services, provides technical assistance to counties, and supports statewide program administration. Public hearing materials are available in accessible formats upon request, and closed captioning is provided. In addition, NJTRANSIT is seeking community-minded individuals to serve on its Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Citizens Advisory Committee (Committee). The Committee provides input on transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities, as outlined in the Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Act Program Guidelines and Procedures (N.J.A.C. 16:78).
