PUBLIC NOTICE
You are hereby notified that the undersigned has applied to the City of Cape May Planning Board seeking preliminary and final site plan approval with variances for improvements on the property located at 7 Ocean Street, Block 1056, Lot 13.02 and 10 Ocean Street, Block 1047, Lot 5 on the Official Tax Map of the City of Cape May, commonly known as the Inn of Cape May and its accessory parking lot located across the street. Applicant proposes modification of the existing outdoor patio area, outdoor lounge seating and patio dining, a seasonal porch enclosure, seasonal banner, and expansion and modifications to the existing rear storage sheds. Applicant further seeks approval for required site improvements to the parking lot pursuant to site plan approval obtained in 1995. Applicant requests the following variances: with respect to the hotel property, rear yard setback and parking, which are existing nonconforming conditions, and duration of time allowed for display of the proposed banner; and with respect to the parking lot, parking within setbacks, lot coverage, parking buffer, paved parking surface, and curbing, which are existing nonconforming conditions that will not be exacerbated. The Applicant may request additional variances and/or waivers as may be identified by the Board and its professionals.
The Cape May City Planning Board will hold a public hearing on this application on August 25, 2026 at 6:00 PM, at the Cape May City Hall Auditorium, 643 Washington Street, Cape May, New Jersey. All documents pertaining to this application will be on file with the Planning Board Secretary in Cape May City Hall (643 Washington Street, Cape May) at least 10 days prior to the hearing and will be available for public review during regular business hours (M-F 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM). Any interested party may appear at said hearing and participate therein accordance with the rules of the Cape May City Planning Board.
