Notice of Explanation of Project Location
The Borough of Wildwood Crest has determined that there is not a practical alternative to locating its proposed FY 2026 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant project, which proposes to make improvements at the Wildwood Crest Fishing Pier located at the beach end of Heather Road to undertake the following ADA accessibility improvements: (1) complete replacement of the fishing pier decking to provide ADA compliance, (2) widening of the fishing pier walkway to provide better ADA access and (3) provide ADA accessible fishing platforms where none exist. . The improvements must be located in the floodplain since the Wildwood Crest Fishing Pier is within the 100 year flood plain as identified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The mobility barriers that exist at the Wildwood Crest Fishing Pier cannot be removed without installing mobility improvements within the floodplain. Not removing mobility barriers within the floodplain would leave ADA non compliance issues in place. The alternative of no action was considered and rejected since the Wildwood Crest Fishing Pier would continue in non compliance with ADA. Positive effects include improved access by the disabled and elderly to the Wildwood Crest Fishing Pier.
No adverse comments were received after publication of the Public Notice for Early Public Review on March 18, 2026.
By publication of this Notice, the Borough of Wildwood Crest is inviting any final comments prior to undertaking the proposed action in a floodplain. All comments must be addressed to Don Cabrera, Mayor, Municipal Building, 6101 Pacific Avenue, Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260 no later than April 20, 2026.
