CITY OF CAPE MAY
PLANNING BOARD

NOTICE OF HEARING
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

In compliance with the pertinent provisions of the Cape May City Zoning and Land Development Ordinance, and the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Act, N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq., notice is hereby given that written applications have been filed by the undersigned with the Cape May City Planning Board for the following:

1. Amended preliminary and final major site plan approval concerning a previously approved development by Resolution No. 07-09-2024 (extended by Resolution No. 05-26-2026:1) allowing for the construction, establishment and maintenance of a new approximately 202 seat banquet/event center, approximately 51 new hotel units, with the demolition of existing buildings/structures on site, together with improvements to the existing La Mer Beachfront Resort structure and related site improvements. The purpose of the amended site plan application is to allow the undersigned applicant to construct the banquet/event center, new hotel units and other improvements to the existing hotel building, all in concert with the existing La Mer Beachfront Resort operation, in three separate phases of development as set forth on the plans on file with the Planning Board, pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A 40:55D-38 and -49. No new development is proposed other than what was approved by the Planning Board by Resolution No. 07-09-2024.

2. Waiver of preliminary and final major site plan review requirements, variance relief for minimum front yard setback and for existing nonconformities, all pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-70c(1) and (2), to allow the undersigned applicant to construct, establish and maintain a pergola above an approved seasonal outdoor seating area with dining tables on a paver surface in an area along Beach Avenue, all in concert with the existing La Mer Beachfront Resort.
With respect to both applications, applicant further seeks any and all other variances, waivers or other relief the Board may reasonably require in the exercise of its discretion, and without further public notice.
All of the above described phasing and development is proposed on property shown as Lots 6-24 in Block 1146 on the Cape May City Tax Map, which property is located at 1317 Beach Avenue and is improved with the existing La Mer Beachfront Resort and The Pier House Restaurant.

Public hearing on the above-mentioned applications have been scheduled for July 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., 643 Washington Street, Cape May, New Jersey, at which time and place any interested party (as defined in N.J.S.A. 40:55D-4) will have an opportunity to be heard.

All documents relating to this application are on file with the Board Secretary and may be inspected by the public from Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the office of Construction/Zoning, at City Hall, 643 Washington Street, Cape May, New Jersey.
